WRP’s 2nd Annual Short Cuts Play Festival
WRP is looking for submissions of 10-MINUTE PLAYs to be performed twice. Once in conjunction with one our “By The People” mainstage plays the weekends of September 11-20th, and once in a final marathon presentation of the plays on September 26th & 27th.
If you would like to submit a piece, here are some parameters and important information:
Selected pieces should be ideally 10 minutes in length.
The cast maximum is FOUR; however, more than four characters can be included as long as all characters are intended to be played by four actors.
The submission does not have to be a specific subject matter, but we’re particularly interested in plays that center around the American experience, hope, family, or the American dream. Do with that as you will.
Finalists agree to grant performance rights, without additional royalty, to Western Reserve Playhouse for the performance run of the Short Cuts Play Festival. Plays remain the sole property of the playwright.
Some sound effects & lighting can be provided as needed.
All rehearsal & production questions will be discussed on an individual basis between the playwright and WRP.
6 Finalist pieces will be selected. Once selected, playwrights will be contacted for a one night workshop of the play with a group of in-house actors. Then after any rewrites, the play will be directed, rehearsed, and performed twice in September. The specific performance date and time of each piece will be finalized at a later date.

Include a brief bio about yourself as artist/playwright and a short paragraph discussing the genesis of your play.
