Western Reserve Playhouse Presents Tony-Award Winning Rom-Com Same Time, Next Year

Western Reserve Playhouse (WRP) proudly announces its upcoming production of Same Time, Next Year, Bernard Slade’s Tony Award–winning romantic comedy, directed by Joe Soriano in his WRP directorial debut. The production opens November 14 and runs through November 23, 2025. This play offers a heartfelt and humorous look at love, change, and connection over the course of 25 years.

Same Time, Next Year tells the story of Doris and George, two strangers each married to other people, who meet by chance at a California inn in 1951 and begin a love affair that endures through annual meetings over the next quarter century. As the world around them evolves through cultural and political shifts, so too do their lives, marriages, and the deep bond they share.

WRP will feature two separate casts performing on alternating nights, allowing audiences to experience the play’s timeless themes through multiple interpretations. Victoria Kirgesner-Hunsicker and Daniel Hunsicker are one of WRP’s most familiar faces and real-life couples; which promises to bring authenticity and emotional depth to Doris and George. These actors are deeply rooted in the WRP community, with Victoria serving as President of the Board of Trustees and Dan as Technical Director. Their offstage marriage lends a rare sincerity to the roles, reflecting the nuances of long-term connection that Slade’s script explores.

Jessica Learoyd and Cory Enriquez also return to WRP after several memorable performances in last season’s productions. Learoyd has been as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, The Other Woman in Death of a Salesman, and Chris Gorman in Rumors, in addition to serving as costume designer for Children of Eden. Her ability to navigate complex roles with both wit and grace promises to serve Slade’s emotionally-charged script. Cory Enriquez, who played the well-meaning, frazzled Ernie Cusack in Rumors, impressed our audiences with his humor, which promises to serve him well as George, a man torn between love and loyalty. Together, Learoyd and Enriquez will offer a fresh, compelling interpretation of the story, highlighting the play’s enduring humanity and humor.

Same Time, Next Year opens Friday, November 14, and runs through Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Western Reserve Playhouse, 3326 Everett Road in Bath, Ohio. Tickets are on sale now.
